Dr. Ruchit Bhatnagar is advancing plans for a strategic investment in APAC Biotech, an Indian biotechnology company focused on personalised cancer immunotherapy, with the proposed partnership expected to begin by strengthening the company’s operations in India before exploring a second phase of expansion in the UAE.
The proposed investment, handled by BR Investment & Holding, follows discussions between the parties dating back to 2023, when an initial memorandum of understanding was entered into around the possibility of supporting APAC Biotech’s growth. The present discussions are intended to build on that foundation and create a more structured long-term investment framework.
APAC Biotech has been working in the field of personalised cancer immunotherapy for more than a decade. According to the company, its research journey began in 2009, with APAC formally established in 2010. Its flagship product, APCEDEN®️, is a personalised dendritic cell-based immunotherapy developed to activate a patient’s immune system to recognise and respond to cancer cells. APAC states that the therapy received regulatory recognition in India and that its dendritic cell-based cancer treatment technology was granted an Indian patent in 2020.
The proposed investment is expected to focus first on expanding APAC’s capabilities in India. This may include strengthening research and laboratory infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, hospital partnerships, scientific manpower and the operational systems required to support a larger patient base.
Dr. Bhatnagar’s investment activity through RB Investment LLC has increasingly focused on sectors where long-term capital can be combined with scalable operating platforms. His existing healthcare initiatives in the Gulf include diagnostics, digital health infrastructure and partnerships intended to connect healthcare providers across markets such as Oman and the UAE.
The UAE is expected to form the second phase of the APAC strategy, subject to the findings of the ongoing investment and feasibility process. Earlier planning around APAC’s international expansion has considered establishing a regional presence capable of supporting patient access, clinical coordination and, at a later stage, specialised biotechnology infrastructure.
The investment will move forward subject to satisfactory due diligence, feasibility analysis, regulatory assessment and final transaction documentation.
If completed, the partnership could give APAC Biotech a stronger domestic platform while creating a pathway for an India-originated personalised cancer-care business to expand into the wider Gulf region.
