A battle that has to be fought with outsiders or unknowns is easy to fight. But the hardest battles are those against the problems which are faced by our own. Chaurasias are a community which find mention even in the times of Mahabharata. They and their traditional betel leaf farming has been indispensable to Indian rituals and ceremonies. But there have been many people from the community who have done well in services, in business, and other fields. A large majority which is still living on the brinks needs more encouragement. Like every other community that lives marginally, Chaurasia community too has many challenges to face while it rises from the depths. When people are struggling, there are times when unity can seem elusive.
Ramesh Chaurasia wants to help his community unite to face challanges together. He wants them to be a part of the larger Indian community. For this, people have to believe in themselves. He understands that people cannot imagine a world beyond what they have seen unless someone lights their path and shows it to them. Being someone who has had humble beginnings and then achieved his goals, Ramesh Lakhulal Chaurasia wishes to ignite that spirit in the members of his community.
As the president of the Akhil Bharatiya Adarsh Chaurasia Mahasabha, he leads several initiatives which are started for the development and upliftment of the Chaurasia community.
The light that comes from within brings hope
He believes that it is important for people to see examples from within their community. This is how they will stop doubting their abilities and credentials. Elders of the community also believe that this is how they will have the self confidence to chart new territories. Ramesh Chaurasia wants to build that momentum. With India being a growing economy and opportunities rising in unconventional fields, he wants to make it a timely endeavour so that people from his community don’t miss the boat. With the Pandemic having hit every section, it is important to make the most of opportunities. Right now, he is not thinking of who gets the credit. His focus is towards bringing development and for that it is important that every able member of the community joins hands irrespective of who gets to wear the crown for it.
When a community unites, it progresses together
It is important that concrete plans are made based on solid data. A system must be created to study data to look for problem areas, areas that will see growth, and to calculate the outcomes. Some people are calling the plans too ambitious but the undying optimist in Ramesh Chaurasia believes that even the smallest effort brings results. The outcomes might not be hundred percent as predicted but every change counts. This is why he thinks that the biggest challenge lies in uniting the community so that every section comes forward. This includes working against gender disparity among many other things.
His close friends say he feels gratitude for being in a position where he is able to guide and help the people of his own community. It is far easier for him and others like him to understand the challenges faced by his people. Raising one section or a community is also a service to humanity. One cannot help everyone but can start by helping those whose issues one can identify with and those who can trust that leader. The Chaurasia community needs and deserves a greater representation in the larger Indian scene. For this they need to unite and work for the collective upliftment of the community.
