Why Isn't Aviation Spoken of in the Same Breath as Medicine and Engineering?- By Dev Punj, VP, Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA)
Dev Punj, Vice President, Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA)

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], August 14: Ask a room full of parents in India what they want their child to become, and you'll hear 'doctor', 'engineer', or 'maybe a civil servant'. Somewhere down the list, if it comes up at all, someone will mention pilot – usually followed by a comment about how expensive it is or how it's "an uncertain path” or "whether it is a practical career at all". Nobody says that about medicine, even though medicine is expensive too. Nobody says it about engineering.

That gap is worth sitting with, because it isn't really about money. It's about how we talk about the professions themselves.
