As customer demand continued to rise, the company identified the need to improve backend operations and inventory management systems to support future growth. Prior to the collaboration, Cotton Plus was operating with limited operational scalability. The business managed three retail stores and generated stable annual sales, but inefficient stock management and slower inventory movement restricted profitability and expansion potential.
One of the major operational concerns was excessive inventory holding. The company operated with a stock-to-sales ratio of 8X, resulting in blocked working capital and increased storage burden. Additionally, the inventory turnover ratio remained at only 2–3 times annually, reflecting slow stock movement and lower sales productivity.
To address these challenges, Cotton Plus partnered with Bada Business Private Limited through a structured operational transformation program designed under the guidance of Dr. Vivek Bindra. The collaboration focused on introducing data-driven inventory management systems, improving procurement planning, and building a scalable retail framework.
As part of the transformation process, a detailed FSN-based inventory classification system was implemented. Products were categorized into fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving segments, allowing the business to identify high-performing categories and eliminate underperforming stock. This helped improve buying efficiency and reduce unnecessary inventory investment.
A comprehensive stock audit was also conducted across stores to identify discrepancies and standardize inventory records. The improved visibility into stock movement enabled the management team to make more informed purchasing and merchandising decisions.
The business also shifted from bulk procurement practices to a demand-driven buying strategy. Inventory planning began aligning more closely with customer preferences, seasonal demand trends, and sales patterns. Vendor rationalization further improved efficiency, as the company strengthened partnerships with high-performing suppliers while reducing dependency on inconsistent vendors.
Following these interventions, Cotton Plus reported significant operational improvements. The stock-to-sales ratio reduced from 8X to 2.5X, while inventory turnover improved from 2–3 times annually to 5–6 times annually. Faster inventory movement improved cash flow cycles and enabled the company to reinvest resources into growth initiatives.
The operational transformation has now positioned Cotton Plus for aggressive expansion. The company is targeting growth from three stores to more than ten outlets across Navi Mumbai and surrounding markets. Simultaneously, the business is projecting nearly 3X growth in annual revenue, driven by stronger inventory productivity, improved operational control, and higher sales efficiency.
Speaking about the collaboration, founder Mr. Bindeshwar Gupta said, “This transformation helped us understand how operational discipline directly impacts business growth. We are now running the business with much better visibility, stronger inventory control, and greater confidence in our expansion plans.”
The Cotton Plus case highlights how structured business systems and data-driven retail strategies can significantly improve scalability and operational performance. Through its collaboration with Dr. Vivek Bindra and Bada Business Private Limited, the company has created a stronger foundation for sustainable long-term growth while continuing to deliver affordable and practical fashion solutions to customers.
