One of the significant milestones in his career has been contributing as a background vocalist to the Grammy-nominated album Sound of Kumbh, an internationally recognised project that brought together diverse musical traditions. The experience further strengthened his vision of creating music that transcends boundaries while remaining deeply personal.
Beyond his recording work, Ankit has remained actively involved in India's music community. He has served as a judge for music competitions, including Battle of the Bands at Amity University, mentoring and evaluating emerging musicians while encouraging original artistic expression. His growing portfolio reflects an artist committed not only to creating music but also to contributing to the evolving independent music ecosystem.
"Music has always been about creating a genuine connection. Recognition is important, but the greatest achievement is when someone tells you that a song has become a part of their life," says Ankit.
A Song That Speaks Through Emotion
Rather than relying on dramatic expressions of romance, "Tu Hi Tu" celebrates the quieter side of love—the memories that linger, the emotions left unspoken, and the invisible bond that continues to exist between two people.
The composition blends warm acoustic guitars, expressive violin melodies, atmospheric textures, and intimate vocals to create a modern sound that feels cinematic yet deeply personal. Every element of the arrangement has been designed to support the emotion of the lyrics, allowing listeners to experience the song in their own unique way.
"Some emotions never truly leave us. They become memories, melodies, and moments we carry throughout our lives. 'Tu Hi Tu' is my attempt to give those feelings a voice," Ankit shares.
A Cinematic Collaboration
Complementing the song is an emotionally rich music video directed by Saurabh Shukla, a filmmaker with more than a decade of experience in visual storytelling. An alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD), Saurabh brings a distinctive cinematic approach that combines theatrical sensitivity with naturalistic storytelling.
Part of a Larger Musical Journey
"Tu Hi Tu" marks an important release from Ankit Upadhyay's upcoming musical project, "Khwaab Aur Tum," a collection of original songs exploring themes of love, nostalgia, hope, and human connection through contemporary Hindi music.
