From the field of fashion modelling to become one of the well-known personalities in India as an astrologer, tantra and psychic healer, the story of Priyanka Bhatnagar is nothing short of unique. In an exclusive conversation on the Attention India Podcast, Priyanka talks about her spiritual journey, her connection with Maa Kali, responsibilities coming with psychic powers and one experience related to her father's death, which changed her life completely.
Priyanka, born in Punjab, where the worship of Maa Kali is not really practiced, shared an experience of how her relationship with the goddess was initiated in an unexpected way during a meditation when she was learning about tantra. Priyanka shared how Maa Kali came before her, blessing her and though she never really believed in the goddess. Priyanka’s guru informed her that the connection with the goddess came from another life and that she would get closer and closer to the goddess now onwards.
Most of the conversation was based on clearing myths about tantra. Priyanka tells that tantra is misunderstood as something dark and exploitative practice but it is a practice revolving around shakti or feminine energy. Priyanka explains that every individual has both masculine and feminine energy within and tantra is about realising one's own divinity and not just worshipping any god or goddess from afar.
Priyanka thinks that everybody has got some sort of psychic abilities and hers became evident to her at a young age. She recalls that she was able to predict outcomes of future events including an incident which was related to her father. Priyanka says that this gift comes with certain responsibilities because psychics are always told not to predict everything openly as people won't believe you or will make your predictions worse.
The conversation turned quite emotional when Priyanka narrated the story of her father's death. She tells that before doctors said anything wrong about her father, she sensed something and also felt that her father told her the exact time of his death. According to Priyanka, she came to realise for the first time that her instincts or sensitivity to unseen things was no coincidence.
Priyanka has shared certain beliefs about protecting oneself from negative energy and how people can protect themselves. She has talked about things like usage of tulsi, salt water baths and cleaning of the house with salt and vinegar to protect oneself from negative energy. She also talked about the various signs of disturbed energy that people usually ignore, including recurring nightmares, noises and injuries and suggested people should not take them lightly but must visit a doctor once before making a decision.
Regarding the importance of timings in prayers and devotion, Priyanka says that though certain timings like Brahma Muhurat are considered special, sincerity and devotion matter a lot. She has emphasised on the importance of genuine faith which is achieved by detaching oneself from the results of the prayer or work done. Priyanka says that this idea is reflected in the fact that self-belief and faith are interlinked.
During the end part of the conversation, Priyanka made a very emotional request to the parents. She asked parents to hear their kids or teenagers when they want to share something disturbing to them as many people, especially girls, don't open up to anyone as their parents or other adults don't take their complaints seriously.
