The Science–Industry Synergy Symposium 2026, organised by NEEV Incubation Centre, IMI Kolkata, with Emsurg Healthcare (India) Pvt. Ltd. as the Industry Partner, brought together some of the most important pillars of India’s emerging MedTech & HealthTech ecosystem — Scientists, Clinicians, Startups, Incubation Centres, Industry and Investors — under one roof.
The evening began with an introduction to the vision and ecosystem of NEEV Incubation Centre by Dr. Sachin Modgil, followed by an address from Dr. Mohua Banerjee, Director, IMI Kolkata. Mr. Kunal Mukherjee, MD & CEO, Emsurg Group, subsequently shared an industry perspective on the evolving MedTech landscape and the opportunities ahead for indigenous healthcare innovation.
The symposium then moved into two highly engaging panel discussions.
The first brought together Mr. Arnab Ray, Mr. Somenath Chatterjee, Mr. Skand Tyagi and Mr. Bibhas Mondal, representing the investment and incubation ecosystem, for a conversation around funding healthcare innovation, the journey from idea to prototype, investment risks and the critical role incubation centres can play in de-risking and nurturing early-stage technologies.
The second panel brought Science and Clinical Practice onto the same platform, with Dr. Jui Chakraborty, Dr. Govinda Kapusetti, Dr. Gaurav Gupta and Dr. Arkaprabha Sau exploring India’s innovation landscape and one of its most important challenges — taking an idea from the laboratory to meaningful patient care.
The evening was further enriched by an online Keynote Address by Dr. Madhuchanda Kar, alongside a Special Address by IPS Aneesh Sarkar on advancements in Artificial Intelligence, adding another important dimension to the conversation around the future of healthcare.
But perhaps the most important outcome of the evening was not any single session.
It was the convergence of the ecosystem itself.
A scientist may create the technology. A clinician identifies the unmet need and validates its relevance. An incubator nurtures the idea. An investor provides the capital and confidence to scale it. And industry ultimately helps translate innovation into something that can reach thousands — or millions — of patients.
India has the scientific talent, clinical expertise, entrepreneurial energy and market opportunity to emerge at the forefront of global MedTech and HealthTech innovation. What we need are stronger bridges between these individual pillars.
This symposium was one such bridge.
