NEW DELHI – After three decades in the public relations industry, Dr. Samir Kapur, Director at Adfactors PR, has issued a stark warning to the profession: the traditional model of PR is obsolete. In his new book, The New Age of Public Relations, Kapur argues that the "Journalistic Black Hole"; where brands relied solely on media gatekeepers for visibility; has been permanently replaced by an era of direct access.

"For nearly a century, PR was a profession of intercession," says Kapur. "You bought an ad or you requested a journalist for coverage. That world is dead. The monopoly on distribution has collapsed, and every brand is now a media company. If you are still building your entire strategy on traditional media relations in a shrinking newsroom, you are building on sand."
