New Delhi, May , 2025 – In an era where India is rapidly emerging as a global economic powerhouse, legal expert and author Som Mandal, Managing Partner at Fox Mandal, officially launched his latest book titled “Investing in India” at a distinguished ceremony held at the India International Center, New Delhi. The event witnessed an exceptional gathering of legal luminaries, parliamentarians, and eminent personalities from across sectors, all underscoring the significance of India’s evolving investment landscape.
The book was unveiled by Attorney General of India Shri R. Venkataramani, joined by Justice Najmi Waziri, Senior Advocate Amal Kumar Ganguli, Rajya Sabha MPs Deepak Prakash and Shamik Bhattacharyya, among other distinguished dignitaries. Also present were Former Chief Justice of India Justice V. N. Khare, Former Supreme Court Judge Hemant Gupta, Additional Solicitor General Shri Chetan Sharma, the Press Secretary to the President of India, and several senior advocates including Rakesh Khanna, Joy Basu, and Atul Chitley, alongside senior bureaucrats and policymakers.
During the event, Attorney General Venkataramani highlighted the crucial role of informed legal frameworks in shaping a conducive investment environment. “India’s ascent as a global economic force necessitates accessible legal literature that empowers investors. This book is both timely and essential,” he remarked.
Justice Waziri echoed these sentiments, pointing out that India’s robust legal system—anchored in the rule of law—plays a pivotal role in attracting international investment. “Rule of law is not just a principle but a tool for trust-building with global investors,” he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash emphasized the importance of empowering youth and fostering a Make in India ecosystem. “India is no longer just a market; it is a magnet for global capital. This book will be a vital tool in guiding investors through the journey,” he stated.
Shamik Bhattacharyya, another Rajya Sabha member and part of the All-Party Delegation on Operation Sindoor’s outreach initiative to Europe, remarked on India’s growing stature as a stable and promising investment destination. “India's global perception is evolving. We are seen as a country of opportunity and credibility,” he said.
Author Som Mandal, widely respected for his deep understanding of corporate and investment law, provided insights into the inspiration behind the book. Drawing from decades of experience, including high-stakes legal battles such as representing renowned author Barbara Taylor Bradford in a landmark copyright case, Mandal emphasized the importance of a functioning legal system in supporting investor confidence. “The ability to obtain a Supreme Court ruling within 24 hours in India speaks volumes about our judicial efficiency. That experience crystallized my belief that India offers not just economic opportunity, but legal clarity too,” he noted.
