During his school and higher secondary years, Shubham focused on learning practical aspects of business. He understood how vendors operate, how credit cycles work, and how trust plays a role in trade.
He joined a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course after school but chose to leave it within a year to gain full-time experience in the family business. This move allowed him to work directly in the market rather than rely only on theory.
Over the next several years, he worked on strengthening the family’s position in the regional paint distribution network. This phase gave him clarity on margins, logistics, and customer expectations in smaller cities.
A Shift in Direction After Years in Paint Industry
After spending close to seven years in the paint business, Shubham’s younger brother joined operations, making the setup more stable. Around this time, a key message from his father influenced his next move. The idea was simple: building a business is tough, but growing and sustaining it requires a different level of effort.
This pushed Shubham to think beyond the existing business. He started studying market trends and noticed the rise of modular interiors such as kitchens, wardrobes, and architectural hardware.
He identified a gap. While metro cities had access to such products, smaller towns like his own had limited options.
Entering the Modular Hardware Market in 2020
In 2020, Shubham entered the modular hardware segment. The decision came with risk, as he had no prior experience in this category.
He began with direct selling, meeting customers and dealers personally. He tried to build partnerships at the local level, but growth was slow in the early phase. For more than a year, sales volumes remained limited, and expansion was difficult.
This phase, however, helped him understand product demand, pricing sensitivity, and customer expectations in detail.
Display Centre Strategy Changes the Game
To improve growth, Shubham introduced a display-based approach. He opened a showroom in his city where customers could see modular hardware products that were usually available only in metro markets.
This move proved effective. Customers were able to understand the products better, and dealers gained more confidence in selling them.
The showroom also gave Shubham space to test product designs and introduce variations suited to local demand. Over time, it helped him build credibility in the category.
Wudware: A Bootstrapped Brand Launch
In late 2022, Shubham launched Wudware as a bootstrapped brand, built without external funding. The focus was on offering a wide range of interior and hardware products at accessible price points.
The brand covers modular kitchen fittings, wardrobes, handles, profiles, door hardware, designer sheets, plywood, paneling, and boards. The aim is to provide a large part of interior solutions under one brand so customers and dealers can source from a single place.
Expansion and Distribution Strategy
After establishing a base in Himachal Pradesh, Shubham focused on scaling the business. He built a team across sales, production, and packaging to support growth.
In 2023, Wudware entered the distribution phase, expanding beyond its home market. Shubham used his experience from the paint business to structure dealer networks and improve reach.
At the same time, his brother continued managing the family’s original business, allowing Shubham to focus fully on Wudware.
Clear Thinking on Wealth and Business Growth
Shubham maintains a straightforward view on success. He believes that jealousy slows progress and that discipline, learning, and consistent effort are the real drivers of growth.
He often refers to business leaders like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani as examples of how structured work converts into financial growth. In his view, their success comes from execution and long-term focus rather than luck.
He wants to build a similar position in his own industry and aims to be known as a leading name in hardware across India. He has also expressed a personal goal of being recognized as a “hardware king” in his segment.
His working formula remains simple: growth should convert into profit, and clear thinking leads to money.
Focus on Smaller Markets and Accessibility
Shubham’s main focus is to bring modular and modern interior solutions to smaller towns at reasonable prices. He believes demand exists across India, but supply and pricing often create barriers.
Wudware is working on building dealer networks, offering shop branding, training staff, and running incentive programs. The company also plans to set up display centers for service centres to support operations across different states.
Partner-Led Growth Model
The company is building a partner-driven model where dealers and distributors play a central role. Shubham aims to provide structured support through branding, schemes, and training.
The goal is to build long-term relationships that help both the company and its partners grow together.
Vision for National Scale
Shubham plans to expand Wudware across India, targeting both urban and domestic markets. He wants the brand to become widely available while maintaining pricing and supply consistency.
He also sees business growth as a way to create employment and support new entrants in the trade.
