New Delhi, August 12, 2026: Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji unveiled AkinAnalytics’ indigenous NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone following a demonstration of its agricultural capabilities in New Delhi. The platform has been developed as a multi-purpose agricultural drone capable of handling spraying and spreading operations, offering a combination of payload capacity, terrain-following technology and operational flexibility.

NIKA2 carries a 16-litre spraying payload and a 13-kg spreading payload, giving it the ability to undertake different agricultural operations through one drone platform. It can cover approximately three acres in a single sortie, depending on field conditions and operational factors. The multi-payload design allows operators to use the drone across multiple requirements instead of depending on separate equipment for spraying and spreading activities.
A key feature of the platform is its terrain-following capability. Agricultural land can vary considerably in elevation and surface conditions, particularly across hilly and undulating regions. NIKA2 has been designed to operate across such terrain, with potential applications including tea-estate spraying. The platform also supports night operations, while advanced fail-safe features have been integrated to strengthen operational reliability and safety during drone deployment.
The use cases extend into areas beyond conventional crop protection. NIKA2 can undertake precision spraying and seed and granule spreading. The same platform can also be used for aquaculture applications, including the distribution of feed across fish and shrimp ponds. By mechanising activities that can otherwise involve significant physical effort and repetitive manual work, the drone is intended to help operators execute agricultural tasks with greater speed, accuracy and efficiency.
The platform was demonstrated by Janaki Pulaparthi, founder and CEO of AkinAnalytics, a MeitY-supported women-led Indian DeepTech and Defence technology startup. A Computer Science Engineer and ISB alumna, Pulaparthi leads the company’s work across AI-augmented drone analytics and multiple technology applications. AkinAnalytics has also deployed drones for aerial seed-ball dispersal in large-scale afforestation initiatives in Andhra Pradesh and operates a DGCA-authorised Remote Pilot Training Organisation at Amalapuram.
The NIKA2 unveiling by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji gives national visibility to an indigenous drone platform built around multiple agricultural applications. It also underscores the growing role of women entrepreneurs in India’s DeepTech sector. With support from programmes including NIDHI PRAYAS, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and MeitY SAMRIDH, along with participation in iDEX and Stanford Seed Spark, AkinAnalytics has been building a technology ecosystem that spans agriculture, environment, infrastructure, mining, energy and defence. NIKA2 represents a focused expression of that work for the agricultural sector.
