Renowned Environmentalist Smt. Revathi Kamath to Launch Akshara Seva Yojana

As part of the rollout, Smt. Kamath has identified select villages to begin operations, with immediate focus on parts of Hassan district and the Bangalore Rural district, alongside select schools in North Kanara (Uttara Kannada) where basic infrastructure and student facilities have been found lacking.

Under the Yojana, focus areas will include:

Study infrastructure — classrooms, seating, lighting, and clean drinking water and sanitation facilities

Libraries — setting up well-stocked school libraries with Kannada and English books, reference material, and reading spaces

Co-curricular activities — planning and support for sports, arts, cultural programs, and skill-building activities alongside academics

Uniforms and clothing for students in need

Learning tools — books, stationery, and other essential educational material

Smt. Kamath has called upon people from all walks of life to join hands in this Abhiyaan to help empower India through education. She draws her inspiration from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's vision — to illuminate young minds.
