In 2021, Ravinder Singh was a corset designer without a job.
He bought a second-hand sewing machine and set it up in Delhi. That was the whole factory.
There was no investor and no big launch. There was just a designer who knew corsets, a machine that had already seen years of use, and a decision to stop waiting for an opportunity and build one instead. That was the beginning of Corset Vogue.
The early days were about getting every piece right. Each corset carried what Ravinder had learned as a designer: clean patterns, real steel bones, and a fit that sculpts the waist without feeling like a costume. Slowly, customers came back, and then they told their friends.
Today, Corset Vogue is known for corsets with character. Its collection includes dramatic steampunk corsets, dark and elegant gothic corsets, everyday underbust corsets, statement overbust corsets, and corset dresses made for weddings, parties and photoshoots.
The brand’s tagline sums up its purpose: Sculpt Your Silhouette. Every piece is designed to give the body structure and confidence, not just decoration.
As Corset Vogue grew, Ravinder started hearing the same story from small boutique owners and new sellers. They wanted to sell corsets, but suppliers asked for huge minimum order quantities. To get started, they had to buy hundreds of pieces and lock away money they did not have.
Ravinder knew that feeling well. He had started with one machine and very little money. If someone had asked him to invest in hundreds of pieces on day one, Corset Vogue might never have existed.
So he decided to do things differently. Corset Vogue now offers wholesale corsets starting from just 20 pieces, at very reasonable prices.
For a small boutique, that means testing a few styles before committing. For a reseller on Instagram, it means building stock as sales grow. And for a new fashion brand, it means launching a first corset collection without a frightening upfront investment.
It is, in a way, the opportunity Ravinder once wished he had, now offered to the next person starting out.
The same second-hand-machine beginning now supports work far beyond Delhi. Corset Vogue manufactures and exports corsets for international brands, while continuing to serve customers across India through its own online store.
The story is still being written. But it already shows something worth remembering: a setback can be the start of something much bigger, if you are willing to take the first step.
