MTCCL Launched in Mumbai on Maharashtra Day with Cricketing Legends in Attendance
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 2: On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the ‘Maharashtra Tennis Cricket Champions League’ (MTCCL) was officially launched in a grand ceremony held at the MCA Club, BKC, Mumbai. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed former Indian cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar, Karsan Ghavri, and Amol Muzumdar.
League Overview
Organised jointly by the Eknath Solkar Foundation and Rose Merc Limited, the league marks the introduction of Maharashtra’s first premier tennis cricket league. A total of 8 teams will participate, with captains already announced. The remaining players will be selected through an auction process in the coming days.
Felicitation and Tribute
The event also featured a special felicitation ceremony honouring former Indian cricketers. Additionally, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the late Eknath Solkar, acknowledging his contribution to Indian cricket.
Organisers and Management
The league, backed by the Eknath Solkar Foundation and Rose Merc Limited, is affiliated with ITCSF. It is founded by Brijesh Solkar and Bhupendra Sinha, with Bharat Lohar and Praveen Ghevari as co-founders.
The event was managed by Pallavi Nair of Ultimate Event Makers.
Key Features of the League
MTCCL is a premium state-level tennis ball cricket league that will follow a franchise-based model along with a structured player auction system. The inaugural season, set to begin in 2026, aims to provide a strong platform for emerging cricket talent across Maharashtra.
The matches will be broadcast live on DD Sports and Waves.
Registrations and Announcements
Player registrations have commenced on the Crickbro app. During the launch event, logos of all 8 teams, prize details, and the official league T-shirt were unveiled.
The captains, mentors, and chief selectors were also announced. The founders felicitated the chief guests, and the Crickbro platform was officially introduced. Members of ITCSF were also honoured during the event.
