The answer, according to Respect Network, depends on what the post does. Reddit lets volunteer moderators remove anything that breaks their community’s rules, and its administrators enforce a sitewide Content Policy covering harassment, personal information, and impersonation. A post that fits one of those categories has a path to removal. A post that is merely unflattering, or even untrue, but breaks no rule does not, and the firm says it tells clients so at the start. Respect Network adds that Reddit has said in its published guidance that it rarely removes content solely because it is defamatory.
The second question people ask is how long it takes. Respect Network says there is no honest single answer. Moderators sometimes respond within hours and sometimes never, administrators may ask for more information before acting, and a rejected first report often has to be rebuilt with a different category or better proof. The firm says it prefers to explain this plainly. It follows each report through to a result, and it keeps its own timeline estimates cautious so that clients do not plan around a date that Reddit controls.
The third question is the one the firm considers the most important: what happens if it does not work. Here the guarantee does its job. Respect Network works with no upfront fees, so a client who is told a post cannot be removed has paid nothing to learn it. A client whose post is accepted and does not come down is not billed for it. The firm calls this a fee guarantee, not a promise that Reddit will agree with every request, and says it declines honest criticism, truthful reviews, and lawful opinion because those are protected and should stay up.
When removal is not possible, the firm points clients to what it calls the reputation route. That means publishing accurate material that can rank above the problem thread, so that a search for the client’s name shows their own work first. It also means monitoring, since a removed post can reappear under a new account or be copied elsewhere. Respect Network says it checks for both after any takedown.
Respect Network says it has resolved more than 1,650 cases over more than 16 years and reports a 90% removal rate on harmful content across the major platforms it handles, Reddit among them. Details are on its Reddit post removal page, and the firm’s social media removal service covers Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and Discord. Clients whose problem reaches articles and search results can review its content removal work, and those facing anonymous attackers can read about its cyber investigation service.
