During this phase, a key influence came from his close friend Kiran from Chennai, who introduced him to the concept of short-term rental arbitrage, a model that involves leasing properties and converting them into profitable short-term stays.
“At that time, it was just an idea we were exploring. I had no background in business or real estate, but the concept stayed with me,” says Yaasin.
However, life took an unexpected turn.
Due to a family emergency, Yaasin had to step away from his corporate career and return to his hometown, Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. What initially seemed like a setback soon became a turning point.
Recognizing the untapped potential in Port Blair’s growing tourism sector, he decided to take a leap of faith and implement the short-term rental arbitrage model he had once explored during his college days.
Starting with zero prior experience, he began leasing residential properties and transforming them into well-managed short-term rental accommodations. Through a combination of strategic pricing, customer-focused service, and leveraging digital booking platforms, he quickly gained traction.
Within a short period, his properties began generating consistent six-figure monthly revenues per unit, an achievement that many seasoned operators strive for.
His success lies in simplifying a complex business model. Instead of heavy capital investment, Yaasin focused on operational excellence, smart negotiations, and understanding customer expectations.
Operating from Port Blair, a city witnessing steady growth in tourism, he identified a clear gap in quality yet affordable accommodations—and filled it effectively.
Today, with a proven system and growing portfolio, Mir Yaasin continues to scale his operations while inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs to think beyond conventional career paths.
“Sometimes, what feels like a setback is actually an opportunity in disguise. If I hadn’t returned to Port Blair, I might have never started this,” he reflects.
