With a vision to make global exposure more accessible and affordable, EDC India has been organising structured student immersion programs that take Indian students beyond the traditional classroom and into international environments. From Dubai and Malaysia to Vietnam, the organisation's programs combine educational exposure, business interactions, entrepreneurship, networking and cultural experiences.
EDC India has so far successfully completed 17 student immersion batches and is currently working with more than 30 universities and educational institutions, creating international exposure opportunities for students from different academic backgrounds.
The organisation's philosophy is simple: students should not only read about the world in textbooks; they should have the opportunity to experience it.
“Students should have the opportunity to go outside India, experience different cultures, meet new people and understand how the world actually works,” says Chandan Tiwari, associated with the vision behind EDC India's international student immersion initiatives.
According to Tiwari, international travel should not be viewed only as tourism. For students, travelling to another country can become a learning experience that changes the way they think about education, careers, entrepreneurship and global opportunities.
Turning International Travel Into an Educational Experience
EDC India's student immersion programs are designed around the idea of learning beyond borders.
Instead of limiting international programs to sightseeing, EDC India combines travel with exposure to universities, companies, entrepreneurs, startup ecosystems and professional environments.
Students travelling to Dubai, for example, can experience one of the world's most international business environments while gaining an understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, finance and global business.
Programs in Malaysia and Vietnam provide a different perspective, allowing students to experience Southeast Asian economies, multicultural communities and emerging business ecosystems.
The objective is to ensure that students return home with more than photographs and memories.
They return with experiences, conversations, new perspectives and a better understanding of the world around them.
Making Global Exposure More Affordable
One of the biggest barriers to international student travel is affordability.
Air tickets, accommodation, food, transportation, visas and program costs can make overseas exposure difficult for many families.
EDC India has therefore focused on developing budget-friendly and structured international immersion programs, particularly for university students.
Through group programs and institutional collaborations, the organisation works to reduce the complexity and cost associated with international travel while maintaining an educational component.
This approach is also helping universities explore international exposure as an extension of classroom education rather than treating it as an occasional luxury.
For students, it means that an international experience can become more achievable without requiring them to independently organise every aspect of an overseas trip.
A Difficult Phase Tested the Organisation
The journey of EDC India has not been without challenges.
The organisation experienced a particularly difficult period when geopolitical tensions, international travel uncertainty and rising flight prices affected overseas programs.
International travel became considerably more expensive, creating challenges for both students and organisers.
During this period, EDC India had to make difficult decisions and reassess some of its international programs.
Only two trips had to be cancelled during the challenging phase, while the organisation continued working on its other programs and student commitments.
For EDC India, the period became a significant learning experience.
Rather than stopping its international exposure initiatives, the organisation began exploring more practical destinations and new program structures.
The organisation subsequently strengthened its focus on destinations such as Malaysia and Vietnam while continuing to develop its Dubai programs.
The comeback became an important milestone in EDC India's journey.
30+ Universities and a Growing Student Network
Today, EDC India's international immersion ecosystem is connected with 30+ universities and educational institutions.
Students from institutions including Delhi University, Lovely Professional University (LPU), JFIC and several other universities have been associated with international exposure initiatives and immersion programs.
The participation of students from diverse academic backgrounds is also changing the nature of these programs.
Management students may explore international business environments. Entrepreneurship students can interact with founders and startups. Technology students can observe innovation ecosystems. Students from other disciplines can gain exposure to international workplaces and cultures.
This cross-disciplinary environment creates another important benefit: students learn from one another.
A student from one university may return with a completely different perspective from another student who has never travelled internationally before.
Learning About Cultures Beyond India
International immersion is not only about business.
It is also about understanding people.
Students travelling to Dubai, Malaysia or Vietnam experience different food, languages, social environments, communication styles and cultural practices.
For EDC India, this cross-cultural exposure is an important part of modern education.
As businesses become increasingly global, professionals are expected to work with people from different countries and backgrounds.
Learning how to communicate, adapt and understand cultural differences can therefore become a valuable professional skill.
EDC India's programs attempt to bring this element into the student experience by giving participants an opportunity to interact with international communities rather than simply visiting tourist attractions.
Entrepreneurship and Startup Exposure
Entrepreneurship is another key component of EDC India's international ecosystem.
The organisation believes that students interested in startups should have the opportunity to observe how entrepreneurs operate outside India.
Dubai, in particular, offers exposure to a highly international startup and business environment, with founders, investors, technology companies and global organisations operating within the same ecosystem.
For students, seeing this environment first-hand can make concepts such as international expansion, networking, investment and entrepreneurship more tangible.
The same philosophy is being applied to EDC India's startup-focused exposure programs, where founders and young entrepreneurs can gain access to international business environments and explore opportunities beyond the Indian market.
The Founder Vision Behind EDC India
At the centre of EDC India's philosophy is a belief that students should develop a global mindset early in their careers.
Chandan Tiwari believes that stepping outside one's familiar environment can significantly influence the way a young person thinks.
A student may leave India for only a few days, but those days can introduce them to new ideas, new people and new possibilities.
For Tiwari, the objective is not simply to organise international trips.
It is to encourage students to think beyond geographical boundaries.
The philosophy can be summed up in one idea:
“Go beyond borders to expand your thinking.”
The organisation believes that when students see another country's education system, businesses, culture and lifestyle, they begin to question assumptions and develop a broader perspective.
From a Trip to a Transformation
For many students, an EDC India immersion program begins as an opportunity to travel abroad.
But the experience often becomes something larger.
A student may meet a founder who started a business in another country.
Another may discover an interest in international careers.
Someone else may experience a completely different culture for the first time.
And for some students, simply travelling internationally can build confidence.
These experiences are difficult to replicate inside a classroom.
That is why EDC India describes its programs as immersion experiences rather than conventional educational tours.
The focus is on exposure, interaction and learning.
Why Dubai, Malaysia and Vietnam?
EDC India's international destinations have been selected with different learning objectives in mind.
Dubai provides students with exposure to international business, finance, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.
Malaysia offers an opportunity to understand a multicultural Southeast Asian environment along with its universities, businesses and growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Vietnam provides students with exposure to one of Asia's rapidly developing economies and an opportunity to understand a different cultural and business environment.
Together, these destinations provide students with a broader understanding of how different economies and societies operate.
Building Trust Through University Partnerships
International student travel requires coordination and responsibility.
Universities need structured programs, students need meaningful experiences and parents need confidence in the organisation managing the trip.
EDC India's growing relationship with more than 30 universities reflects its effort to build an institutional approach to international exposure.
Rather than operating only as a travel service, the organisation positions its programs around education, entrepreneurship, business exposure and cultural learning.
This distinction has become increasingly important as universities look for opportunities that can supplement academic learning with real-world experiences.
A New Approach to International Education
The traditional model of education has largely focused on classrooms, examinations and academic qualifications.
But the global economy is changing.
Students today may work with international companies, collaborate with teams across countries, build startups for global markets or pursue higher education overseas.
As a result, exposure to international environments is becoming increasingly valuable.
EDC India is attempting to make that exposure more accessible by combining structured travel with educational and entrepreneurial experiences.
The organisation's journey — from its first programs to 17 completed batches and a network spanning more than 30 universities — reflects the growing demand for this kind of experience.
Looking Ahead
EDC India now aims to expand its international student immersion ecosystem further and create opportunities for more students to experience the world beyond their classrooms.
The organisation's journey has included growth, international travel challenges, rising costs, cancelled programs and a subsequent comeback.
But the central idea has remained unchanged: students need exposure to the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
As India continues to produce a large and ambitious young population, opportunities to develop global confidence, cultural understanding and international business awareness could become an increasingly important part of education.
For EDC India, the goal is to make that opportunity more accessible.
With 17 successful immersion batches, partnerships and engagement with 30+ universities, and international programs across destinations such as Dubai, Malaysia and Vietnam, EDC India is continuing to build a platform where students can learn not only from books and classrooms, but also from the world itself.
Because sometimes, the most powerful lesson begins when a student steps outside the familiar.
