True prosperity is not just about financial wealth. It is about a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a healthy family.

In Indian culture, the words ‘Shubh-Labh’ represent much more than auspiciousness and prosperity. They symbolise happiness, well-being, and good fortune. During Diwali, we worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, seeking their blessings for a prosperous and fulfilling life.
However, with changing times and growing health challenges, there is a need to add another important dimension to this traditional concept — ‘Shubh Swasthya-Labh’ (Auspicious Health and Well-being).
Today, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart-related ailments, stress, and lifestyle-related health problems have become major concerns. People work tirelessly to achieve financial success, but in the process, they often neglect their most valuable asset — their health.
This raises an important question: What is the true value of wealth and prosperity if we are not healthy enough to enjoy them?
Shubh, Swasthya and Labh — A Meaningful Union
Lord Ganesha symbolises auspiciousness and the removal of obstacles. Goddess Lakshmi represents wealth and prosperity, while Lord Dhanvantari is revered as the divine source of Ayurveda and the deity of health and healing.
By bringing together the blessings and values associated with these three divine figures, we can inspire a new approach to health and prosperity.
‘Shubh’ from Lord Ganesha, ‘Swasthya’ from Lord Dhanvantari, and ‘Labh’ from Goddess Lakshmi.
Together, they form our new message — ‘Shubh Swasthya-Labh’.
This is not an attempt to change our age-old traditions, but rather to enrich them by giving health the importance it truly deserves.
Prevention Is as Important as Treatment
One of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda is:
“Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam, Aturasya Vikara Prashamanam Cha.”
This means protecting the health of healthy individuals and alleviating the ailments of those who are ill.
Ayurveda emphasises that maintaining good health is just as important as treating illness.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity and yoga, adequate sleep, effective stress management, a disciplined daily routine, and appropriate periodic health check-ups should all be integral parts of our lives.
Health awareness, preventive care, and timely medical consultation are essential for long-term well-being.
This Diwali, Let Us Make a New Commitment
On Dhanteras, as we offer our prayers to Lord Dhanvantari, let us also make a meaningful commitment: to give our own health and the health of our families the same importance that we give to earning wealth.
True prosperity is achieved when there is happiness at home, success in business, and good health within the family.
This Diwali, let us not limit our wishes to financial success and material prosperity. Let us also pray for the good health, happiness, and well-being of every family.
“Along with Shubh-Labh, Let Us Now Embrace Shubh Swasthya-Labh!”
