A towering figure in contemporary poetry, Ezhuthalan has captivated readers with his evocative verses blending classical traditions with modern sensibilities. His debut collection Sudarsanam (2017) established him as a lyrical powerhouse, exploring themes of identity, nature, and human resilience. Subsequent works like Porali, Ezhuthalan ,Novu,Sabdamillathavanuvendi Sabdichappol then English works : Truth Goodness and Beauty Behind Love, Good Vision, critical work Samskarika Sangharshangal (2018), a poetic critique of societal upheavals, have earned him accolades including the Kala Sahiti Award, Kunjikutta thampuran smaraka award , Ambedkar Sahitya Sree National Award, Kerala Koumudi Literature Award , Kerala Kalidasan Award ,KSTA Literature Award and the like.He was honoured by Ministers : P.Prasad, Ramesh Chennithala, V.Sivankutty, PA Muhammad Riyas,A.K.Saseendran and the like.
Beyond poetry, Ezhuthalan's criticism has reshaped literary discourse. He also ventured creating much accepted Albums like Ambalappuzha Kannan ,Mannarisala Stutigeetangal, Munpe Nadannavar and the like.He has written songs in for two films, latest being Argentina Che Salam .
As a lecturer at prestigious institutions ie Vocational Higher Secondary Schools in Kerala, he has mentored countless aspiring poets and literature lovers,while his social activism-campaigning for environmental conservation, farmers' rights, and Dalit empowerment-infuses his work with urgency.
Hailing from Haripad, Alappuzha, where his roots in Kerala's temple festivals and folklore deeply inform his art.His father V.N.Siva Sankara Pillai is a retired teacher and mother late Dr.L.Jayasree is a chief medical officer. He has PG,BEd and PhD in English.He has a Degree in Law also.He is the president of Ee Yugam, IPTA and Uvakalasahiti. Ezhuthalan's journey from a government educator to a Bharatiya Sahitya Samman laureate exemplifies his dedication. "Poetry is my weapon against injustice, It's my emotional substitute",he remarked post-ceremony, quoting his own lines: "In the ink of rebellion, words bloom eternal."
