In 2018, Srishti Sharma, an entrepreneur from Haryana, founded Shakti Wearables with one clear goal: to help women feel safe without relying on anyone else. They are not only working for women's safety, but they are also doing a lot of work for the Indian Army as well by the name of “Project Veer”. She noticed that many existing safety solutions were not effective enough. For example,
pepper spray takes time to use in dangerous situations. In real-life situations, many women
are unable to use pepper spray in time because it requires multiple steps — taking it out from the bag, aiming, and spraying — which can be difficult during sudden attacks. Do you really think a woman gets enough time and presence of mind to pull out and use pepper spray during a sudden attack? A large GPS tracking or location sharing system depends heavily on the police or family, and during that waiting time, a woman is often left helpless. There was no
instant help available when it was needed the most. That is why she decided to create something different — something that puts real power directly in the hands of women.
This is how the Shakti Band was created.
The Shakti Band is a wearable safety device designed for instant
protection. It looks like a simple band, but it has a powerful feature inside. In a dangerous situation, the user can activate the band, which delivers a non-lethal electric shock to the attacker. This immediate
action can disable the attacker for 2 to 3 minutes, making him unable to move, giving the woman time to escape and protect herself. Unlike other solutions, it does not depend on anyone else. It provides instant help exactly when it is needed. At the same time, the live location of the user, which will be active for 8 hours, will be sent to the nearest police station and their family and friends so the other help is also on their way to help her. The watch is also waterproof, so even in the rain, users can wear and use it without any fear of getting electrocuted.

It took 6 years to complete the Shakti Band. They faced multiple failures, multiple members of the team were hospitalised while testing the band, so that women get the best protection.
