But the cab had its own problem. Although a few passengers were already seated, the driver explained that the vehicle would depart only after more seats were filled. Minutes became an hour. Some passengers grew tired of waiting and left. The driver returned to the bus stand to look for new travellers.
The founder noticed an everyday mismatch: passengers were searching for transport, while drivers were searching for passengers. Both sides wanted the same journey to happen, yet neither had an easy way to connect in advance.
That experience led to the idea behind ROAMIX: what if travellers could discover intercity rides before arriving at a bus stand? What if drivers could publish their planned routes and available seats, allowing interested passengers to find suitable journeys earlier?
Turning a real-world problem into a platform
ROAMIX Technologies Private Limited was conceived around this practical challenge. Based on a vision rooted in Amaravathi, Andhra Pradesh, the company is developing a platform intended to connect passengers with driver partners travelling on compatible intercity routes.
The approach is straightforward. Driver partners can publish planned trips and seat availability through the ROAMIX Driver app. Passengers can use the ROAMIX app to explore available rides and booking options. Availability depends on the routes and trips posted by participating partners.
The platform is designed for people travelling between cities for work, family visits, personal commitments and other journeys. It also aims to help driver partners make better use of available seats rather than relying solely on finding travellers at departure points.
A young company with a long-term vision
ROAMIX is beginning its journey with a focus on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its wider ambition is to make intercity travel easier to plan and to support more convenient connections between passengers and driver partners as its network grows.
The startup does not claim that technology can eliminate every travel delay. Its proposition is more specific: better visibility of planned trips and available seats may help travellers make informed decisions before starting a journey.
Behind the platform is a team of technology professionals, with development support from SAGIAM, its technology partner. The company views feedback from passengers and driver partners as an important part of refining the experience.
The founder's original midnight journey may have been delayed, but the question it raised continues to guide the startup: why should travellers and drivers wait to find each other when they could connect before the journey begins?
ROAMIX describes its mission in three words: Travel Further. Together.
