Young Poetess Priya Singh Faces "Dilemma of New York": Art, Ambition, and the Search for Fulfillment

She is currently pursuing her PhD in English Literature at Chitrakoot under the guidance of Dr. Shashi Kant Tripathi. In the midst of her academic journey, Priya received a major offer for creative writing in New York with a handsome remuneration.

Yet instead of immediate celebration, the young writer finds herself in what she calls the "Dilemma of New York."

Between Opportunity and Inner Calling

Priya has long been fascinated by a literary career abroad. However, the offer has brought with it a wave of reflection rather than certainty.

“Life at this stage is like a game of chess where God is moving all the pawns,"Priya shared. "I am like a desert where every achievement seems like a raindrop, but not enough to satisfy me. After going through different literary texts, I have matured beyond my age. Nothing materialistic or worldly fascinates me anymore. Sometimes I feel I suffer more in imagination."

For Priya, the decision is not about money or fame. It’s about what she may have to leave behind  her roots, her quiet, and the space where her writing breathes.

"Getting an offer from New York is truly a news of joy for everyone. But I am in a sense of dilemma that many things will be left behind which are close to my heart and soul," she said.

A Message to Youngsters

Through this moment, Priya hopes to speak to young writers and dreamers navigating similar choices.

"Sometimes it’s difficult to fill the void with materialistic things," she said, It’s better to keep silent and listen to the heart, and let God decide what is destiny. Money can never fill the void of satisfaction. I let people make their opinions about me, and I keep myself busy in literature — that’s where I can breathe."
