For most Indians who own vehicles. As the summers heat up and driving in hot conditions becomes an issue throughout the year, the discourse on window films for automobiles is slowly shifting gears. In today’s world, the correct use of window films is not so much about modifying the look of the vehicle, but about making the inside of the car a better place to sit in.
This becomes all the more important in India where a car that is left out in the open can become like an oven after just a few minutes. The incoming sunlight through the glasses makes the insides of the car hotter and prolonged exposure to the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun can slowly damage the interiors of the vehicle.
What Makes a Good Window Film?
Sometimes the difference between films is found by looking at the things that happen under the hood. While traditional films are all about the tinting, modern nano-ceramic films use ceramic particles to control infrared rays without using a metal base. It can assist in heat rejection without impairing vision and letting such connectivity features as GPS, mobile signals and toll transponders function correctly. Films by SUNKOOL, for example, are based on multi-layer coating featuring optical clarity, UV protection, infrared rejection and an abrasion resistant topcoat.
From a driver's perspective, it means some very real advantages: a car interior that will be more comfortable even when exposed to direct sun rays, reduction of glare during daytime and additional protection of vehicle interiors. But the goal here is not to make the window film darker, but rather to increase its functionality.
Where SUNKOOL Fits In
SUNKOOL offers window films that operate under various performance levels and does not assume all cars and drivers to be alike. The Foundation Series is based on the day-to-day use of the film in heat control, visibility and durability, including HD 70 and SK 70 that are transparent as per CMVR norms. Depending on the type, these films have different rates of total solar energy rejection and infrared rejection.
The Signature Series, on the other hand, places more stress on solar control and UV protection. This series includes Sapphire, Onyx and Graphite and the variant called Emerald includes the use of nano-ceramic heat rejection along with UV400 coating that rejects UVA, UVB and high-energy visible light up to 400 nm.
The attraction of such films comes in the fact that they can protect while leaving some visibility intact. The SUNKOOL company has been active in the window film market in India since 2005 with its products being focused on heat control, clarity and utility.
In summary, automobile window films seem to be moving away from being cosmetic options towards being considerations for comfort. It would not hurt any person who drives for hours in India’s heat to consider investing in films that would make a difference once the engine turns on.
