At the heart of this vision is TEDx speaker Deepali Phadnis, Founder and Director of Mrs India, whose career has been defined by transformation and purpose. Beginning her professional journey in the IT industry, she later represented India on the international stage as Mrs Asia International before expanding her work into filmmaking and social advocacy. Rather than limiting her influence to the pageant industry, she chose to build a platform that reflects the evolving aspirations of modern Indian women. She also acts as an International Jury on prestigious Pageants Like Miss Asia Pacific International, Tourism Queen, and more.
Deepali Phadnis's contributions also extend to the international fashion and tourism landscape. She served as the National Director for Fashion Asia Awards, representing Indian fashion and tourism at the prestigious event held in Chongqing, China, a project of the Chinese Government. Under her leadership, the Indian representation secured several notable recognitions, including Best Tourism Destination for Maharashtra's Kailash Temple, Best Pret-a-Porter Fashion, Most Fashionable Stylist, and Best Fashion Photographer, among others. She has also served on the international jury of Miss Asia Pacific International and several other prestigious pageants, and received honours such as the Asian Woman of the Year Award in Malaysia. An alumni of the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles, where she completed her filmmaking studies, Phadnis has also championed social and environmental causes through initiatives such as the 'Bring Back Millets to the Plates' mission and sustainable fashion awareness campaigns.
Beyond Mrs India, Phadnis has actively contributed to public awareness initiatives. She has worked on diabetes awareness campaigns associated with the International Diabetes Federation's Blue Circle initiative alongside renowned diabetologist Dr. V. Mohan. Her advocacy also extends to sustainable living, promoting Indian handlooms and encouraging the revival of traditional millets as part of healthier lifestyles.
These experiences shaped the philosophy behind Mrs India. The pageant was designed to recognise women for the lives they lead beyond the stage, as entrepreneurs, professionals, mothers, artists, social changemakers, and community leaders.
Over the years, the platform has welcomed participants from diverse backgrounds, creating opportunities for women who may never have imagined themselves entering a pageant. The focus extends beyond grooming and presentation to confidence building, leadership, communication, and personal growth.
This approach has helped Mrs India establish a distinct identity within India's pageant ecosystem. Instead of defining success solely through appearance, it celebrates resilience, ambition, and meaningful contribution to society.
As conversations around representation continue to evolve, the organisation's message has remained remarkably consistent. Beauty may open the door, but character, purpose, and impact define the journey.
For Deepali Phadnis, the success of Mrs India is measured not only by the crowns awarded each year but by the confidence participants carry into their personal and professional lives long after the competition concludes. That enduring focus on empowering women to become role models in their own communities continues to shape the organisation's growth and relevance.
