Founded by Gurumukh Ahuja, the DPIIT-recognised startup combines its technology development efforts with a dedicated focus on legal practice and education.
Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: The development of professional technology products is creating opportunities for entrepreneurs beyond India’s largest metropolitan centres. From Jabalpur, Unified Web Options & Services Pvt. Ltd. (UWO™) is building AI Legal™, a platform focused on the research, drafting and preparation needs of lawyers and law students.
Founded by Gurumukh Ahuja, UWO is a DPIIT-recognised startup under the Startup India initiative and has received incubation support from IIT Ropar–TBIF. The company is developing artificial intelligence applications around defined professional and educational tasks, with AI Legal representing its dedicated legal technology offering.
Building Around the Work Users Need to Complete
A legal professional’s assignment rarely ends with finding an answer to a question. Research must be connected to the facts, documents must reflect specific instructions, and arguments must be organised for discussion or presentation.
AI Legal’s product approach follows these connected activities. The platform brings legal research, document drafting, contract review and case preparation into one environment, allowing users to select tools according to the stage of their work.
For an advocate, this may involve exploring a legal issue, examining potentially relevant authorities and preparing an initial document structure. For a student, it may involve understanding a case, identifying competing arguments and practising how to explain a legal position.
A Shared Platform With Different Uses
The needs of practising lawyers and students overlap, but their objectives can differ. A practitioner works towards a professional deliverable, while a student may be developing the skills needed to produce one.
AI Legal addresses both through workflows that support preparation and review. Lawyers can refine initial material around a client’s instructions and the requirements of a matter. Students can examine the same kinds of structures as learning exercises, discussing their reasoning with faculty members or mentors.
This gives legal education a practical connection with the activities students are likely to encounter during internships and professional development.
An Indian Context for Legal Technology
According to UWO, AI Legal supports 21 Indian languages and includes state-specific jurisdiction features. These capabilities reflect the company’s focus on users who work across different linguistic and jurisdictional settings.
The platform also provides tools for exploring legal precedents and comparing newer criminal laws with earlier legislation. Its purpose is to help users organise research and preparation while retaining independent verification and professional judgment.
Gurumukh Ahuja’s Broader Technology Portfolio
UWO’s portfolio also includes AISA™, its broader AI assistant offering. Within that portfolio, AI Legal maintains a specialised focus on legal professionals, legal teams and students.
The company’s development from Jabalpur places a regional entrepreneurial story alongside a specific product objective: building technology that supports the daily work of India’s legal community.
