Before remote motor control became possible, switching on an irrigation motor meant travelling to the farm. Switching it off meant making the journey again. Managing irrigation valves required the same physical effort. A farmer could be miles away from home, attending to another responsibility, yet his thoughts would remain with the field. Was the motor running? Was the water flow stopped at the right time? Was everything working as it should?
Even a short absence could become a worry. A family occasion, an urgent errand, or a few hours away from the farm could feel like a difficult decision.
For farmers, these were not occasional inconveniences. They were part of everyd ay life.
What if a farmer could control a motor without having to travel all the way to the field?
This simple question became the starting point of Mobitech journey.
In 2008, Mobitech introduced an SMS-based automatic motor starter that allowed farmers to switch their motors on and off using a mobile phone. At a time when connected farming was far from today’s reality, this was a practical step towards making irrigation management easier. A task that once required a physical visit could now be handled remotely.
But solving one problem revealed another. Controlling the motor was only part of irrigation management. Water still had to be directed through valves, and farmers continued to spend time managing these operations manually.
So the journey continued.
Remote valve control expanded the possibilities. As wireless communication and IoT technology developed, irrigation systems began moving beyond simple remote switching towards more connected and convenient farm management. The goal was no longer just to operate a motor from a distance. It was to help farmers manage irrigation with greater control, flexibility, and confidence.
Over time, Mobitech Wireless Solution Pvt Ltd expanded its work into smart irrigation automation, environmental monitoring, and AI-powered irrigation technology. Each advancement represented another opportunity to address the challenges farmers face in their daily work.
Yet, the most important measure of this progress is not how advanced the technology has become. It is how that technology can make a difference in a farmer’s life.
Consider the farmer who no longer needs to make repeated trips simply to operate a motor. The farmer who can manage irrigation valves more conveniently. The farmer who can plan watering schedules and use available information to make better decisions about water management.
These changes may appear small from the outside. On a working farm, they can mean less routine effort, more flexibility, and better control over essential operations.
Still, a significant challenge remains. Many farmers continue to hesitate when considering irrigation automation. Some are comfortable with the methods they have followed for years. Others want to understand the investment, the practical benefits, and whether the technology will work reliably under their farm conditions.
Their concerns deserve to be understood, not dismissed.
Agricultural technology can make a meaningful difference only when farmers see its value in their own fields. Innovation must therefore go beyond developing advanced systems. It must also help farmers understand how those systems can address real problems, simplify everyday tasks, and support more efficient water management.
At Mobitech, the journey that began with a simple SMS continues with this purpose in mind. From remote motor starters to connected irrigation and intelligent farming solutions, the direction has always been the same: bring useful technology closer to the people who need it most.
Because a farmer’s time is valuable. Water is precious. And the person responsible for feeding millions should not have to carry every burden alone when technology can help.
The journey began with a simple idea: make one difficult task easier for a farmer. Today, that idea continues to grow into a larger vision for smarter irrigation and more manageable farming.
The technology will continue to evolve. New possibilities will emerge. But the purpose behind every step will remain unchanged — to help farmers work smarter, manage water more efficiently, and spend less time on avoidable tasks and more time growing the future.
