Dr. Satya Prakash Sethy has established himself as a poet, short-story writer, novelist, children’s writer, playwright and essayist. With more than 40 published books to his credit, he represents a sustained and productive engagement with literature.
Several of his works have been translated into Hindi and English and published from prominent literary centres including Delhi and Mumbai. His literary repertoire encompasses poetry, fiction, essays and other forms of creative expression.
Among his notable works are Neela Gaganara Pathika, Manapara, Chandakare Gote Rati, Samayara Arapari, Fusia Maa, Parityakta Kothi, Anushka, Akata, Vaniviharare Premara Nabdiganta, Atma Jeunthi Kathakahae, Jharaka Separira Jhiata, Jagarana, Amruti Nilaya, Jibanara Di' Pakha, Sahabasa Sambandha, Mun Ranu Kahuchhi, Dhwani O Pratidhwani, Kathanika, Mun Kie, Uttansa, Shunshan Rati, Tulasi, Kuamula and Jitu Munda, among others.
His work Chandaka Mein Ek Raat represents the Hindi translation of his literary creation, extending the reach of his writing beyond the Odia-speaking readership.
Recognition Beyond Odisha
Dr. Sethy’s literary achievements have earned him recognition at different levels. His poetry collection Samayara Arapari brought him the Golden Book Award in Pune, adding a notable distinction to his literary career.
He has also received the Pensmith Award–2025 and the Asia Talent Award–2025. Smart Odisha conferred upon him the distinguished title “Sahitya Sarathi.”
Among his other honours are the “Pratibha Samman” from Astaraga Sahitya Sanskriti Pratishthan, Balasore; “Pratibha Smaraki Samman” from Gananatya Raghunath Panda Smruti Sansad; and “Pratibha Samman” from the Dr. Harekrushna Jayanti Committee.
He was nominated for “Author of the Year” by StoryMirror in 2022 and has also received the title “Literary Winner,” apart from numerous other awards and recognitions.
From Bhadrak to the Literary World
Born on 31 January 1968, Dr. Satya Prakash Sethy hails from Ranipada in Bhadrak district, Odisha. He completed his M.A. in Odia from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, and also holds a Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management.
Alongside his literary pursuits, he has built a professional career in the cooperative sector. He currently serves as Sub Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Baripada.
The combination of professional responsibility and literary creativity has given his writing a distinctive perspective on society and human life.

The Hrudananda Ray Samman–2026 was presented by the Hrudananda Ray Smruti Parisada at a grand meeting held at Global Indian Model School, Cuttack. Er. Prabhakar Swain, president of the committee, presided over the meeting. Eminent writer Dr. Sunamani Rout attended as the chief guest, while secretary Choudhury Satya Das helped organise the event. Eminent writer and professor Dr. Sanghamitra Behera attended as the chief speaker.
Eminent Fiction writer Dr. Kishore Chandra Rout,Mrs Manjushree shastri, Susmita Bastia, vice president Sanjit Pattanayak students of the school, writers and several other eminent personalities were present at the ceremony.
