The idea that fast learning is inherently shallow has dominated educational discourse for years. Critics argue that young children cannot, or should not, acquire foundational literacy and numeracy skills quickly. This argument is often raised against accelerated learning programs which claims to bring children up to foundational literacy and numeracy standards in 30-45 days. Skeptics are quick to cry out: “Impossible! Real learning takes years!”
