Born in Daryaganj, Delhi-6, as the second of five daughters of a civil servant, with her father also shouldering his responsibility for her grandparents, her childhood was full of hardships as the family barely made ends meet due to a single paycheck and very little means.
Being a brilliant student, in her nursery grade itself once she arrived at school at a regular time when nursery and first-grade kids were asked to reach early for a picnic, she was made to sit with 2nd-grade students and she could solve all the sums of the new concept their arithmetic teacher introduced that day leading to great appreciation and an offer to be promoted to 2nd standard by the School Principal, which was declined by parents as they wanted her to be thorough with all concepts of all subjects.
Uma Mansharamani has experienced both the highest highs and the lowest lows in her life. She began her career as an Apparel Exporter and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the top exporters in Delhi NCR, and her company was listed on the BSE, with their Public Issue being oversubscribed by more than 300 times. But then the worst happened: two big clients went rogue, crashing the empire and causing her to lose everything. Instead of giving up, she began working on her own life and mindset, enrolling in several courses and training.
