Sharing the video on Instagram, Dr Vivek Bindra revisited the different chapters of their association, from their first meeting around a Bollywood film to a difficult personal phase and, eventually, to investing and working together.
“On your birthday, it feels right to pause and reflect on how far our journey has come,” Dr Vivek Bindra wrote.
It Started at a Film Launch in 2019
Dr Vivek Bindra traced the beginning of their bond to 2019, when the two met around the launch of Vivek Oberoi’s film PM Narendra Modi.
“Our bond began around 2019, during your biopic movie launch of ‘PM Narendra Modi’, and over the years it has only grown stronger,” he recalled.
At the time, they came from different professional worlds. Vivek Oberoi was known primarily for cinema, while Dr Vivek Bindra had established himself as a business educator and entrepreneur.
What could have remained a formal introduction developed differently. They stayed connected, their conversations continued and professional respect gradually turned into friendship.
The relationship acquired a deeper meaning four years later.
Then Came 2023 and the Bond Changed
In his message, Dr Vivek Bindra described 2023 as a difficult phase in his life. It was during this period, he said, that Vivek Oberoi stood beside him.
“I was in a difficult phase, but that’s when you stood by me and it truly mattered,” Dr Vivek Bindra wrote.
For him, that support changed the relationship altogether. “In days and months, you became much more than my own family,” he added.
Their association, therefore, did not become meaningful because they later worked together. Personal trust came first, shaped during a period when friendship mattered more than professional achievements.
That trust would eventually follow them into business.

How Did Friendship Find Its Way into the Boardroom?
By then, their professional journeys had also begun to overlap.
Vivek Oberoi had expanded his identity beyond cinema as an entrepreneur and investor. Dr Vivek Bindra, through Bada Business, was working with entrepreneurs and MSME owners across different stages of growth.
Their shared interest in building businesses gave the friendship a larger direction. As Dr Vivek Bindra explained, “The same trust has grown into the work we do together.”
That work now includes their “Idea to IPO” journey, investments in pre-IPO companies and efforts to support Indian MSMEs through the wider Bada Business ecosystem.
They did not begin as business partners and later become friends. They became friends, developed trust and then explored what they could build together.
From ‘Idea to IPO’, a Shared Mission Emerged
“Idea to IPO” represents an entrepreneur’s journey from developing an initial concept to building a structured, scalable and investment-ready enterprise.
The partnership combines their different experiences. Dr Vivek Bindra brings his understanding of business education, leadership and MSMEs, while Vivek Oberoi brings the perspective of an entrepreneur and investor.
According to Dr Vivek Bindra, they are now “shaping Indian MSMEs through the 360-degree ecosystem” they have built. What began at a film launch has gradually grown into a shared effort to mentor businesses, invest together and help entrepreneurs pursue larger opportunities.
‘Bollywood to Boardrooms’ and a Bond Beyond Both
Dr Vivek Bindra described their journey as one from “Bollywood to boardrooms.” Yet his message suggested that its real foundation lay in the years between those two points—the conversations that kept them connected, the difficult period that brought them closer and the trust that later shaped their work.
“Thank you for always being there, personally, professionally, and most importantly, as family,” Dr Vivek Bindra wrote while wishing Vivek Oberoi continued growth and many more milestones.
From a film launch to friendship, from a difficult phase to a family-like bond, and from personal trust to a shared MSME mission, their journey has crossed several worlds without losing the relationship at its centre.
