<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As part of the ongoing drive against anti-social elements launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police arrested an associate of Canada-based terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and his three aides after recovering four pistols along with ammunition from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The arrested key accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar alias Toti of village Bhikha Nangal in Kartarpur, Jalandhar, while, his three aides have been identified as Amardeep Singh alias Patwari, Sooraj Singh and Rahul Lahoch, all residents of Jalandhar. Whereas, all the accused persons are History-sheeters, the main accused Vijay alias Toti has been facing as many as 18 criminal cases pertaining to drugs, illegal weapons, kidnapping and extortion.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; DGP Gaurav Yadav said that acting on a reliable input that accused Vijay along with his gang members were hatching a conspiracy to commit crime in Kartarpur area, Police teams from Jalandhar Rural promptly conducted special naka near Drain in Durgi area of Jalandhar and successfully arrested all the four accused persons, who were travelling on two motorcycles.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He said that the Police impounded both the motorcycles and have recovered four pistols including two .32 bore country-made pistols along with 10 live cartridges, one 9 mm country-made pistol along with two live cartridges and one .12 bore country made pistol along with one live cartridge from their possession.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Divulging more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural said that two of the arrested accused persons were also wanted by Kapurthala Police in kidnapping case, wherein they had abducted a resident of Gaji Gadana village in Kapurthala district and sought Rs 3 crore as ransom for his release. The case FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Dhilwan in Kapurthala.</p>

<p>Chandigarh October 01, The Vigilance Bureau Punjab on Saturday has arrested two accused ladies who were proclaimed offenders (PO) and wanted in a forgery case registered by the Bureau the year 2017.</p>

<p>Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the duo accused Anita and Ambika, both resident of Sultanpur Lodhi, district Kapurthala were declared POs in January 2021 in a case already registered under FIR No 05 dated 09.03.2017 under section 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC and 13(1), 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Jalandhar.</p>

<p>He informed that the above accused ladies are wife and mother of&nbsp;&nbsp;accused Tilak Raj, ex councilor, from Sultanpur Lodhi who had already been arrested in this case on 05-02-2018.</p>

<p>Giving more details he informed that the above mentioned accused ladies have connived with officials of State Bank of India (SBI) branch Sultanpur Lodhi and revenue department to get loan amounting to Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 28 lakhs respectively on forged and fabricated documents. Both of them were absconding since 28-08-2018 after dismissal of their bail from the High Court.</p>

<p>The spokesperson further added that this case was registerd regarding on the basis of Vigilance Enquiry No 12/2013 in which total 107 cases pertaining to agricultural loans from SBI were sanctioned by the then accused Manager Sulinder Singh and others from the period May 2013 to April 2016 on the basis of forged and fabricated documents leading to embezzlement of Rs 15 crore 83 lakhs.</p>
