Mr Bhavpreet Singh Soni, Managing Director SonisVision Law Firm, delivered an Extension Lecture on ‘HOW TO BECOME A CORPORATE LAWYER AND IPR ATTORNEY IN INDIA AND ABROAD’ which was organized by Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia and chaired by our Dean Faculty of Law Prof. Dr Eqbal Hussain.
Established in 1920, Jamia Millia Islamia University is amongst the Top 10 Universities in India. Faculty of Law, JMI, established in 1989, is ranked seven amongst the Top Law Colleges as per the NIRF Rankings of 2021 released by the HRD Ministry.
Mr Bhavpreet Singh Soni is a renowned IPR Attorney and a Corporate Lawyer. He is the Founder and CEO of SonisVision Corporate Law Firm, a technology platform to simplify legal and business-related matters and has offices in Ajmer, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Mumbai, and Singapore. He is also the Vice President at Business Network India and an Educator at legal and business platforms, Law Sikho and Bada Business. He delivers online lectures through the official YouTube Channel of SonisVision and interviews Young Entrepreneurs through his YouTube Channel Billionpreet.
Mr Bhavpreet has expertise in providing Business Consultancy to Entrepreneurs to help them build a scalable business model with the help of Intellectual Property, Franchise Business Models and the Ed-Tech Industry.
The Lecture’s theme was based on major insights into Corporate Culture and work ethics, developing and enhancing skills required for Corporate Work culture and work ethics developing communication and public speaking skills, building a perfect CV to get Internships and applying for jobs.
With the help of a Powerpoint Presentation, Mr Bhavpreet talked about the role of Corporate Lawyers and their major areas of practice, including, Intellectual Property Law, Mergers and Acquisition, Taxation and Commercial Transactions in detail. Then, he explained the role of a Trademark Attorney to the students and the scope of pursuing this role. He distinguished between working at a Law Firm or an established Company and entering into startups as Corporate Lawyers and IPR Attorneys and laid down the pros and cons of the same. After deliberating on these goals, he gave the students insight into what and how they should work on to achieve their set of plans. He highlighted the importance of Research work, Reading Case Material and journals, and following the academic curriculum.
He emphasised the importance of gaining practical work experience through Internships. He also talked about the significance of personality building in the professional world and achieving the same through extra-curricular activities, discipline, ethics, consistency, reading habits, writing practice and developing good communication skills for effective Networking with Professionals. He advised the students to get a good grip over the basics of technology used in professional circles and pick a specific field of interest to pursue their career, which would help them stay more focused and streamline their potential and energy.
After the conclusion of the Lecture, the attendees put forward their questions which were answered to their satisfaction by Mr Bhavpreet.
