On the special occasion of World tourism day with the theme of ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ that was dedicated to help people associated with the tourism sector in every possible way, DTORR have celebrated the special occasion in the presence of the industry practitioners, Government officials, academicians, tourism and hospitality students, school children and children from the HEAL which is a Health and Education for all Foundation that caters education for visually impaired children. To enhance the theme and the day in a glorious manner the occasion was marked with a virtual tour of Northeast India keeping inclusiveness in mind followed by an Award Ceremony of the Tourism Startup Thinktank program 2021.
The event was supported by Global citizens of Tomorrow represented by Shreejith Govindankutty. The event was marked by few special guests like Dr. Lajwanti Naidu who is an Assistant Director of Capacity Building at Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority, Mr. Ajay Kumar Kurapati CEO of HEAL, Dr. Saikat Chakraborty founder of Rare Himalayas.
The speech shared by Dr. Lajwanti Naidu “Let the divinity in me go to the divinity in you, I am thankful to celebrate this special day where we are taking it on a different paradine to include everybody into the tourism journey.”

Dr. Saikat Chakraborty shares “Every state has an immense potentiality as per tourism is concerned. If I talk about the State Tripura it is a storehouse of biodiversity and natural and cultural diversity at space”
The Northeast tour through the digital solution was an eye opening experience for many from the comfort of their home that covered the plethora of the geographical setting of the village with different landscape, phenomenal local inhabitants, ethnic community and their rich and varied heritage, their lifestyle, local festivals, local weavers and their exceptional art in making handmade jewellery and silk fabrics. Vibrant culture and friendly people of Northeast are something worth mentioning, along with their interesting cuisine to relish. This makes Northeast the most resplendent part of the Indian subcontinent. Mr. Vikas addresses all the stakeholders with a vote of thanks for their valuable time.
The program was winded with the Awards and recognition ceremony of the second edition of tourism Startup Thinktank 2021. It was a 6 week virtual program that was initiated with the purpose of fulfilling the current demand of the Tourism students and the universities with a collaboration of the startups and the aspiring entrepreneurs with a mission to master their skills on building innovative business case in a co-learning and sharing environment. Approximately 248 students from 32 educational institutions and 48 mentors participated in the program. The program was worthwhile and turned out to be a huge success where all the participants thoroughly enjoyed and gained confidence, skills, knowledge towards a wonderful way for the growth, development and learning.
Though Pandemic had affected all the countries but the advancement of technology has brought everyone together virtually. The tourism Industry no doubt fuels the economic and sustainable growth in many countries and with the arrival of pandemic there was a sudden decline of cultural and economic values globally. However the UNWTO said it would make efforts to “celebrate tourism’s unique ability to ensure that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future”
